The Computer Based Test (CBT) covers specific subjects for each engineering branch and a common syllabus. There is no negative marking in the CBT.

• Electrical Branch: Electric Circuits, Electrical Machines, Power Systems, Utilization & Control Systems, Measurements, Analog and Digital Electronics, Power Electronics and Drives.
• Mechanical Branch: Strength of Materials, Fluid Mechanics and Machinery, Material science and metallurgy, Theory of Machines, Vibrations, Design of Machine elements, Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics, Applied Thermodynamics, Turbo Machines, Metal cutting and machine tools, Foundry, Welding and Forging, Production and operation management.
• Electronics Branch: Basics of Circuits and Measurement Systems, Transducers, Mechanical Measurement and Industrial Instrumentation, Analog Electronics, Digital Electronics, Signals, Systems and Communications, Electrical and Electronic Measurements, Control Systems and Process Control, Analytical, Optical Instrumentation.
• Civil Branch: Strength of Materials, Reinforced Concrete, Soil Mechanics, Steel Structures, Fluid Mechanics & Machinery, Foundation Engineering.

• Reasoning and General Intelligence: Verbal and non-verbal reasoning, including semantic analogy, number series, coding-decoding, critical thinking, problem-solving, emotional and social intelligence.
• General Awareness: Current events, general knowledge related to India and its neighbors (History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General policy, Scientific Research).
• Quantitative Aptitude: Number sense, decimals, fractions, relationships between numbers, computation of whole numbers, estimation, and problem-solving. (10+2 level)
• English Language And Comprehension: Vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms, spellings, idioms & phrases, sentence improvement, active/passive voice, direct/indirect narration, sentence shuffling, cloze passage, comprehension.
• Computer Knowledge/Proficiency: Computer basics (CPU, I/O devices, memory, Windows Explorer, shortcuts), Software (MS Office), Internet & e-mails, Networking & Cyber Security.

Interested and eligible candidates must submit their applications online through the official websites https://apgenco.gov.in or https://apvidyutrecruitment.apcfss.in. The online application portal will be open from 2026-06-30 at 10:00 Hrs until 2026-07-20 at 23:59 Hrs. The application process involves:

• Registration on the Common Recruitment Portal.
• Receiving an OTP to the Aadhaar-linked mobile number for verification.
• Logging into the portal and filling in all required information, including educational qualifications and academic details.
• Uploading scanned copies of all relevant certificates.
• Compulsorily uploading a recent passport-size photo and scanned signature.
• Candidates are advised to frequently visit the official websites for updates regarding the 2026 recruitment process.

Applicants are required to pay an application fee of Rs. 1000/- for processing and conducting the Common Recruitment Test. The fee can be paid through Payment Gateway from 2026-06-30 to 2026-07-20. The fee, once paid, is non-refundable.
