IIT Madras Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 – Apply Online for 40 Grade I & Grade II Faculty Posts

Essential qualification and post-doctoral experience criteria (reckoned as on date of application submission):
• Basic Qualification: Ph.D. with first class or equivalent at the preceding degree in appropriate branch/specialization with consistently good academic record throughout.
• Assistant Professor (Grade-II): Candidates with less than 3 years of post-Ph.D. industrial, research, or teaching experience.
• Assistant Professor (Grade-I): Candidates with at least 3 years of post-Ph.D. industrial, research, or teaching experience.
• Special Criterion for IITM Alumni: Candidates who obtained their doctoral degree from IIT Madras must demonstrate clear evidence of complementary research independent of their IITM guide with a minimum experience of 3 years outside IIT Madras.

Candidates should not have completed 36 years of age as on 31.12.2026. Standard upper age relaxations apply as per Government of India / Ministry of Education norms for SC/ST (5 years), OBC-NCL (3 years), PwD (10 years), and women candidates.
